Early Morning Imperial Palace Birdwatching Tour (Day Trip)
Join us for a bird watching tour that starts at Tokyo Station, right in the heart of Japan's largest business district. The tour kicks off at 7:00 a.m. and involves about 5,000 steps along the flat paths surrounding the Imperial Palace, where you'll have the chance to spot various birds among historical buildings.
Just a short walk from Tokyo Station, the moats around the Imperial Palace attract many waterfowl during winter. A highlight of this area is the Falcated Duck, a species native to East Asia. The males have a striking green sheen on their heads, making them quite elegant.
We’ll walk along the moat to Kitanomaru Park, which features bushes, thickets, lawns, and ponds that are home to a wide variety of birds. You'll likely encounter familiar species like the Varied Tit and Japanese Pygmy Woodpecker, both endemic to East Asia. In winter, keep an eye out for the Daurian Redstart and Dusky Thrush. You might even hear the calls of the elusive Japanese Bush Warbler hidden in the bushes.
After 90 minutes of bird watching, the tour will conclude at Kudanshita Station. You can either return to your hotel for breakfast or take a moment to visit Yasukuni Shrine.
How about starting your day with some bird watching in the bustling metropolis of Tokyo? It’s a refreshing way to gear up for your workday!
